Configure Scheduling and Caching for Searches and Reports

The Scheduling/Caching feature enables scheduling of searches, reports and filters and storing results on a periodic basis. The user to can then view the results of the search/report after it has been executed, resulting in faster performance.

Notes:

The following steps must be completed to enable the search/report scheduling function:

Ensure that IIS7 is installed on the Governance Portal

Internet Information Server (IIS) 7.0 (or higher) for Microsoft Windows Server 2008 must be implemented on the application server for the scheduling and caching feature. For more information, contact RTS Technical Support.

Create a Calculated Field to Schedule Run Times

Setup a calculated field event and schedule the time you want the search/report to run by creating a calculated field:

  1. Select "Schedule" as the Object Type and set the Field to "Event"
  2. Creating rule definitions that will trigger the searches/reports to run at a certain time of the day:
    • Click Add New Rule and select "Time Based" as the event type.
    • Click <Select> in the Event Value section and select the cache type. There are four types of caches. Each one represents a different dataset within the portal.
      • RCM Core Search
      • Assessment Core Search
      • Project Core Search
      • Report Cache

        Note: It is recommended that you create an calculated field event for each cache type.

    • Click <Select> in the Rule Definition section, click the Time Picker and select the time you would like the search/report to be run.

Enable Permissions

Only users assigned to a role with the Schedule/Edit Attributes permission type can view the schedule tab. For more information, see Add a Permission Type to a Role.
